The vessel was heading to Ardrossan from Brodick when the crew alerted the Coastguard to the situation and also informed them that they had launched their Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) to provide immediate assistance to the person.

The volunteer crew began to assemble at the lifeboat station and launched RNLI Shannon class all-weather lifeboat RNLB Roy Barker VI to assist alongside Coastguard Rescue Teams from Largs and Ardrossan.

While on route, Belfast Coastguard were then able to confirm that the person had been recovered from the water into the FRC by the Calmac crew and the lifeboat was able to stand down.

MV Caledonian Isles then made its way intro Ardrossan where it was then berthed and the lifeboat was able to return to Troon where it was made ready for service with the assistance of the shore crew
