Sunderland RNLI volunteer Maureen recognised for 10 years of dedicated service
A dedicated Sunderland RNLI shop volunteer has been recognised for a decade of service to the charity, surrounded by friends and members of the lifeboat crew she has supported over the past 10 years.
Maureen was invited to Sunderland Lifeboat Station to mark the special milestone, where she was presented with her 10-year service medal by Alan Dixon, Chairman of Sunderland RNLI.
Friends and volunteers from across the station joined Maureen for the presentation, celebrating her contribution and thanking her for the time, enthusiasm and commitment she has given to the RNLI over the last decade.
As a volunteer in Sunderland RNLI’s shop, Maureen has played an important part in supporting the charity’s lifesaving work. The shop and its team of volunteers not only raise vital funds for the RNLI, but also provide a welcoming presence within the local community and help to raise awareness of the work carried out by the charity’s volunteer lifeboat crews.
Alan Dixon, Chairman of Sunderland RNLI, said: ‘Reaching 10 years as an RNLI volunteer is a wonderful milestone and it was a real pleasure to be able to recognise Maureen’s contribution.
‘Our shop volunteers are a hugely valued part of the Sunderland RNLI family. They give their time so generously and the money they help to raise directly supports the RNLI’s work of saving lives at sea.
‘On behalf of everyone at Sunderland RNLI, I would like to thank Maureen for everything she has done over the past 10 years. We are incredibly grateful for her continued dedication and hope she is very proud of reaching this milestone.’
Maureen was presented with her medal surrounded by friends and fellow Sunderland RNLI volunteers, who were delighted to share the occasion with her and celebrate 10 years of service.
