Two Sunday call outs for Angle RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

The first launch came at 2.01am on 9 August when the crew were tasked to locate and assist a 32ft yacht with two persons onboard suffering electrical failure and loss of navigation equipment. The yacht was located approximately one mile north of Skomer Island.

The lifeboat launched shortly after and began proceeding to the area. Once on scene the crew located the vessel a mile north of the Garland Stone on the north side of Skomer.

After assessing the situation, the safest course of action was decided to be to tow the vessel back to Milford Haven.

At 6.30am both boats arrived off the entrance to Milford Marina, the tow was dropped and the vessel made its own way into the safety of the lock.

With no further assistance required the crew were stood down and returned to station where the lifeboat was readied for further service by 6.45am.

Later in the afternoon, at 3.20pm the crew were tasked to assist an adult and two children who had became cut off by the tide whilst fishing at West Angle Bay.

The lifeboat launched and was on scene soon after. The casualties were located stranded on a rocky outcrop on the north side of the bay.

The lifeboats inflatable Y boat was deployed and following two trips in to the rocks, all three casualties were recovered safely back onto the beach.

The crew were then stood down and the lifeboat was back alongside her berth and ready for further service by 4.30pm.
