Peter Robinson, who is a volunteer in the Visits Team, has been a part of the lifesaving charity for 37 years.

The ‘David Benjamin Jones Memorial Award’ was created by the family of a young crew member, who sadly passed a number of years ago.

Mark Budd, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Rhyl RNLI said:

‘Our “David Benjamin Jones Memorial Award” is presented annually to someone at the station who has gone above and beyond and made a major impact in their role at the station.

‘Peter was very well deserving of this award and highlighting the work of the many other volunteer roles that support our lifeboat crew going to sea, is an important part of our one crew ethos at the RNLI.’

Peter was presented the award at a crew dinner in March, for all of the work he has done throughout the previous year, including the various events where he has hosted talks on the history and stories from Rhyl Lifeboat Station.

Peter said:

‘I’m really pleased and honoured to receive this special award. I’ve been volunteering for the RNLI for almost four decades and I feel as committed to our lifesaving work today, as I was on day one.

‘We are a team of volunteers from all different backgrounds and life experience, who come together under one RNLI lifeboat station to save lives at sea.

‘Being a part of Rhyl RNLI’s one crew is a huge part of my life and I’m honoured my commitment has been recognised in this way.’
