Lyme Regis restaurant owners make another major donation to the RNLI
The owners of Lyme Regis beachfront restaurant Poco Pizza have made another significant donation to the RNLI in the town. Lyn and Jason Martin visited the lifeboat station on Tuesday (14 April) to be thanked by volunteers and to present a donation of £1180.
This is the third such donation Lyn and Jason have made to the lifesaving charity in recent years, donations which now total almost £4000. Lyn said, ‘Over the years we have watched the Lyme Regis crew go through the harbour to train or to aid someone in difficulty out at sea, often in poor weather. We are very happy to support our local lifeboat station with this donation, especially as this year the RNLI celebrates 200 years in the town.’
Chair of Lyme Regis Lifeboat Management Group Petrina Muscroft said: ‘We are very grateful to Lyn and Jason for their generous support of the RNLI. It is donations like this which enable us to train and equip our volunteer crew to be ready to save lives at sea day and night, 365 days a year.’
2026 is a busy year for the volunteers of Lyme Regis as they celebrate their 200th anniversary. Their Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Spirit of Loch Fyne will be paraded through the town on Saturday 2 May starting from Holmbush Car Park at midday and finishing at Cobb Gate. On Saturday 9 May there is a RNLI Open Golf Day at Lyme Regis Golf Club, and on Sunday 10 May at 3pm, the station will host the annual Blessing of the Boats service. This year’s Lifeboat Week is planned for 15 – 23 August and will include all the family-friendly events plus, after a gap of nine years, a display by the RAF Red Arrows on 15 August. The timing of the flying display has yet to be released.
