The much-loved village pub adds a 50p donation to every bill, with all proceeds going directly to help fund the lifesaving work of the Wells lifeboat crew.

In addition to these ongoing contributions, The Dabbling Duck also hosts quarterly charity quiz nights, offering participants a delicious pre-quiz meal and a lively evening of friendly competition. Teams from Wells RNLI regularly take part and have even been known to win, before generously donating their prize money back to the station.

Representatives from Wells RNLI including Chris Hardy Lifeboats operations manager and, Nicky King Coxswain attended The Dabbling Duck’s annual Pink party a celebration marking the end of summer. Despite heavy rain, the event was extremely well attended, featuring three live bands performing throughout the afternoon.

During the event, Wells Lifeboat Operations Manager Chris Hardy was invited to speak and thank landlord Mark Dobby, his team, and all the customers who have supported the RNLI through donations and fundraising activities. Coxswain Nicky King also spoke on behalf of the volunteers, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support that enables the station to continue its lifesaving work.

Robert Taylor on behalf of all at The Dabbling Duck said: ‘The Dabbling Duck has been proud to have had Wells RNLI as our partner charity for the past two years. Simply by adding £1 to each eating bill we have been, with the amazing help of our customers, able to raise thousands of pounds for the lifeboat station as well as good causes in the Massingham villages.’

Andrew Pike, a member of the Wells RNLI visits team, said: ‘It was fantastic to join everyone at The Dabbling Duck for their Pink Event and to see so many people supporting the RNLI, even on such a wet afternoon. The generosity of Mark, his team, and the pub’s customers has been truly outstanding. Every penny raised helps keep our volunteer crews trained, equipped, and ready to launch whenever we’re needed. We’re incredibly grateful for this continued community support.’

Chris Hardy Lifeboats Operations manager added: ‘Wells RNLI are extremely grateful to Robert Taylor for hosting the quizzes and the wonderful team at The Dabbling Duck for their incredible generosity and continued support. The RNLI relies entirely on donations like this to continue saving lives at sea, both now and into the future. The kindness and community spirit shown by The Dabbling Duck and its customers are truly inspiring and deeply appreciated by everyone at Wells RNLI.’

The funds raised will help Wells RNLI continue its vital mission of saving lives at sea, ensuring that its volunteer crew can respond to emergencies along the North Norfolk coast.
