Kippford's station history

1966

Station established at Kippford in May 1966 with the placing on service of a D class lifeboat, operational only during the summer months.

1999

The Kippford lifeboat station transitioned to year‑round operations, remaining open and operational throughout the entire year.

2009

The new station D Class lifeboat D718 Catherine was placed on service on 12 November. D553 has been withdrawn. The lifeboat was funded by the generous bequest of Mrs Catherine Frances Harrison. The naming ceremony for this lifeboat was held on 17 April.
