Uruguay: We supported search and rescue volunteers at ADES with training to save lives along the Río de la Plata estuary.

The ADES (Asociación Honoraria de Salvamentos Marítimos y Fluviales - the Honorary Association of Sea and River Rescue) operates all-weather lifeboats and inshore lifeboats. It’s run with very little funding from government or local institutions.

The difference we’ve made

We have been supporting ADES and its volunteers with training in lifeboat operation, search and rescue, and first aid since 2011. In May 2013, two RNLI lifeboat trainers visited Montevideo and trained 20 rescue crew members over the course of 2 weeks.
