The Big Help Out
To mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation, the RNLI is joining thousands of organisations across the country who are getting together to give everyone the chance to help out in their local communities.
The Big Help Out is a national day of volunteering happening on 8 May, the Monday of the UK's bank holiday weekend to mark the Coronation. The day is about inspiring people to try volunteering for the first time, and will help us recruit more volunteers to the charity.
The Big Help Out app is available to download and allows people to search for volunteering opportunities via events (on specific dates and times in their area), ways to take an action (which can be done remotely) and for ongoing opportunities. It isn’t just about volunteering on or around the 8 May – there’s also the opportunity to promote events over the summer as well as ongoing volunteering roles.
The RNLI is taking part, along with thousands of organisation across the country, to encourage people to ‘Lend a Hand; make a change.’ We have a number of opportunities on the app to sign up and take part in a number of quick actions, including becoming an RNLI local ambassador and sharing our water safety messages online, as well as Mayday collections.
If you have anything that you would like to promote via the Big Help Out app (such as events such as open days or recruitment events, quick actions or ongoing opportunities) please get in touch with Amanda Robson from the RNLI's Volunteering Development Team to discuss your ideas.
