Saving Lives at Sea is back for a sixth series, featuring more stories from RNLI lifeboat crews, lifeguards and the people they rescue.

The 10-part documentary showcases the lifesaving work of the RNLI around the UK and Ireland. The series will air on BBC Two on Tuesdays at 8pm, as well as being available on BBC iPlayer to watch afterwards. Previous series have also been broadcast by RTÉ at a later date, so in the future it will likely be available to watch there too.

Episode six

Episode six of series six will be broadcast on Tuesday 28 September at 8pm on BBC Two. If you can’t tune in then, you can catch up afterwards on BBC iPlayer (you’ll need to sign in or register to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer).

Episode six features a race against time for St Agnes RNLI with two swimmers in difficulty near Tubby’s Head; Calshot RNLI and a capsized jetski; Whitby RNLI and a walker who’s fallen and injured her leg on inaccessible rocks by the seal colony at Ravenscar; and two dog walkers who are stuck in the mud at Hoylake.

Saving Lives at Sea: Making a difference

Jayne George, our Fundraising, Marketing and Media Director, says:

‘I am so pleased to be able to confirm that Saving Lives at Sea will be back for series six!

‘You will be aware that we have been overwhelmed by the public’s support for our mission in Ireland and the UK in recent weeks. This series has been a game changer for the RNLI both in terms engaging with our donors, volunteers and staff and sharing vital water safety messages.

‘The new series will continue to build on our hard-fought-for awareness and our reputation as the charity that saves lives at sea. This is only possible because our lifeboat crews and lifeguards stand front and centre in sharing the lifesaving stories that make us the RNLI.

‘Thank you to all of the participants and their families who have chosen to take part – together with the BBC we will move closer to our vision to save every single one.’
