Physical events

For 10K and 5K runs, the minimum age is 16 years old.

If you're 16-18 and want to take part unaccompanied, you will need to ask a parent or guardian to complete a consent form as part of your registration.

For the 1K Santa Saunter all ages are welcome, however all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

There are standard entry fees for each event:

10K run - £18 / €21

5K run - £16 / €20

1K Santa Saunter - £10 / €11 (adult ticket)

Children's tickets for the Santa Saunter can be added when you register, and each child ticket will cost £5. Under two's can join in for free but if you'd like them to receive a medal at the end please ensure you purchase them a ticket.

We are also encouraging everyone that takes on the Reindeer Run to raise sponsorship via their fundraising page which will bring us closer to saving every one we can.

You will receive event specific details including timings and arrival information by email around 2 weeks before your chosen Reindeer Run.

Please visit our events page for the locations of all of the RNLI Reindeer Runs taking place this year.

Unfortunately we're unable to accept any on the day registrations at Reindeer Runs, so please ensure you register online well in advance to ensure your place.

Spectators are welcome at all of the Reindeer Runs. Check your event specific information for further information on arrangements for your family and friends to watch.

All participants who complete their run will be given a Reindeer Run medal at the end of the route.

Yes, all registered participants over the age of 16 will be given a running number when they check in for their run on the day.

Please remember to bring along some safety pins to secure your number to your clothing for the run.

All our teams are ready to make sure the Reindeer Run events are both fun and safe this winter.

All the events are outdoors, but we will have extra measures in place including encouraging social distancing and hand washing.

Please email us at Reindeer_Run@rnli.org.uk and one of the team will be able to help.

The Virtual Challenge

You choose your own distance for the virtual Reindeer Run. If you're a beginner, we recommend a shorter distance such as 5K. If you're more experienced, why not try a 10K or push yourself even further and take on a half marathon (21K) - and if you really want a challenge, you can complete a full marathon! (42K)

You can also download some helpful running safety tips to help with your challenge.

When you sign up, you'll be asked to set your distance and fundraising target.

Once you've signed up and your fundraising page is ready, make sure you add a profile picture and keep your page updated. Then all you need to do is share with your friends and family.

Choose your day to take on the Reindeer Run (any time during December), lace up your hooves and get running!

You can choose to run this event any time in December.

You decide when and where you want to complete your Reindeer Run. Just choose your favourite place to run and get started.

There is no registration fee to take part, however we are asking everyone that takes on the Reindeer Run to raise funds via their fundraising page to bring us closer to saving every one we can.

Once you sign up, your fundraising page will be automatically created and all donations collected on your page will come directly to the RNLI.

You can add your own profile picture and tell us why you're taking on the Reindeer Run. You can then share your page with friends and family so they can donate to support you and the RNLI's volunteer lifesavers.

All donations made to your fundraising page will be automatically transferred to the RNLI, so you don't need to do anything.

The money you raise will help our lifesavers to save every one they can, so we are asking everyone that takes on the Reindeer Run to try and raise at least £100/€100.

Anyone who raises at least £100/€100 will receive a Reindeer Run medal.

You can track your distance and steps using a number of different apps, including Strava, Fitbit and MapMyFitness.

You must be aged 18 or older to register for the Reindeer Run. Under 18's are welcome to participate but they must be registered by someone over 18.

Please email us at Reindeer_Run@rnli.org.uk and one of the team will be able to help.
