The Met Office will be supporting the RNLI throughout a 3 year ‘Charity of the Year’ partnership, which started at the end of 2015. The RNLI were shortlisted from 74 charities and made it into the final 5. We were then granted the opportunity to meet and greet Met Office employees at head office, competing against other big charities such as Cancer Research UK and Asthma UK. We were delighted to win 39% of the overall vote.
The Met Office will be helping us to raise essential funds and awareness. They will be key in helping us to share our messages and helping the RNLI to achieve our aim of halving the number of drownings by 2024 – as well as providing personalised weather expertise to help us save more lives at sea.
The Met Office have already supported us through national fundraising campaigns such as Fish Supper and Give an Hour. We look forward to continuing on our lifesaving journey together.
