Welcome and safety information for hotel guests
Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at the RNLI College, where every pound you spend goes toward saving lives at sea.
A lot has changed on site due to the current ongoing pandemic. Rest assured that the safety of our staff and guests is our top priority. We have introduced a range of new measures and an enhanced cleaning procedure, details of which are outlined below.
Please take the time to familiarise yourself with these new procedures and all the information you need for a safe and enjoyable stay.
Track and Trace
The RNLI College has a legal requirement to undertake Track and Trace procedures. This means that your details will be stored on site for a maximum of 21 days. Your details will have been captured by the college’s reception team at the time of booking.
Social distancing and sanitisation
We have introduced a one-way system at the college. Please follow the arrows and adhere to the social distancing measures of 2 metres. Please use the stairs wherever possible but if you do have to use the lift, we ask that only one person or one family use the lift at a time. There are several sanitiser stations throughout the site - please sanitise your hands when entering and exiting the building.
On arrival, you will receive an envelope containing your room slip and welcome letter. The room slip shows your room number and is your proof that you are a resident with us.
As the RNLI College is currently only open to hotel guests, we will be performing checks upon entering the building. Therefore, it is a must that you always keep your room slip with you and please ensure that it is signed.
Please avoid visiting reception as much as possible. Instead you can call reception from your room by dialling ‘0’. Reception is available 24 hours a day.
Bedrooms and housekeeping
We have removed a few items and added in extra cleaning measures for some of the items in the bedrooms. The items that have been removed are the decorative bed runners, bibles and extra blankets. If you would like a bible or a blanket for your room, they can be provided for you. Please request this with the reception team by dialling ‘0’ from your room.
The extra cleaning measures that have been put in place in the bedrooms include cleaning of the high-touch point items after each stay. These items are the hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, and the leather pillows. We have removed all glasses and crockery from the bedrooms and replaced them with disposable items to better protect our staff.
Our housekeeping team will not be servicing your room during your stay to better protect you and them. Please request any additional items you may need with the reception team by dialling ‘0’ from your room. Items that can be requested are extra towels, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, disposable cups, pillows and toilet rolls. These items will be packed in a bag and dropped outside your door. A member of staff will knock to inform you of their arrival.
Any rubbish that you have can be placed outside your room and will be collected throughout the day on a regular basis.
Table service breakfast is available in Riggers Restaurant from 6.30am -10.00am. Breakfast boxes are also available for guests and can be delivered to guests’ rooms at the time agreed when making your reservation. Any dietary requirements should have been informed to us at the time of booking. You can amend the time of your breakfast box, but we ask that this is communicated to reception no later than 10pm the night before. You can do this by dialling ‘0’ to speak to the reception team.
A light lunch menu will be available from 12.00 – 2.00pm Monday – Friday with Sunday Lunch menu to include Sunday Roast will be served from 12.00-3.00pm. Afternoon tea is available on Saturdays from 12.00-5.00pm.
Evening dinner service will be available all week to hotel guests from 5.00 – 10.00pm. Alternatively a room service menu is available 12.00 -10.00pm.
All guests eating and using our facilities will be asked to provide their details in the guest visitor book held at the reception or in the restaurant for track and trace purposes with a maximum of 6 people per table. Booking is essential. For reservations call 01202 308500.
If you have charged any additional items to your room, you will be provided with a bill the night prior to check-out. This will be in an envelope and slipped under your room door. We ask that you check your bill and raise any queries with reception the next morning. If all appears correct with your bill, then there is nothing else to do. Reception will charge the card provided to us at the time of booking for the outstanding balance and will email a receipt to you. Please place your room key card in the box provided in reception so that it can be sanitised before being reused.
If you have a query with your bill, please speak to our friendly reception team who will be able to assist you. We will make any corrections that are needed and then reconfirm the outstanding amount. Again, this will be taken from the card provided at the time of booking and a receipt emailed to you. We again ask that you return your room key card by placing it in the box at reception rather than handing it to reception.
Check-out time is 10.30am, which we have moved forward by 30 minutes. We ask that guests respect this check-out time and our new contactless check-out system so that we can make sure that our rooms are turned round ready for our next guests.
We are currently unable to accept any late check-outs. This is to ensure that our housekeeping team can perform all the enhanced cleaning measures that have been put in place ready for our next guests.
We can no longer store any luggage at this time.
