Launch a Memory Exmouth – Event in Poole

A special event in Poole on 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 & 13 July 2025 for Launch a Memory Exmouth supporters only, to see your special lifeboat.

We can't wait for you to come and see your Launch a Memory lifeboat, and your loved one’s name, up close at the RNLI All-weather Lifeboat Centre (ALC) in Poole, Dorset.

This event includes a visit to the RNLI College, light refreshments, and the opportunity to see the Exmouth Lifeboat.

Important information, please read carefully

  • Only assistance dogs are permitted to this event. Anyone bringing a dog will not be permitted into the College or All-weather Lifeboat Centre.
  • Children under 5 do not need a ticket. However, each child needs to be accompanied by an adult (18+).
  • For your safety and enjoyment, this is a ticketed event with specific visiting time slots. Your Eventbrite tickets will show the date and time you have booked. You can find your tickets in your confirmation email or by logging in to the Eventbrite website. On the day, simply show your tickets at our registration desk - there is no need to print tickets out.
  • Save time on the day and use our online search tool to find your loved one’s name on your Launch a Memory lifeboat. Simply type their full name as shown on your certificate into the search box and a zoomed-in image of their name will appear.

Getting here and car parking

  • Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your allotted time and plan your journey carefully.
  • Follow directions to RNLI College, West Quay Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1HZ. There will be signage on the day to help you find the car park, and volunteers close by to direct you.
  • Limited parking will be available opposite the college – not at the college itself. If the car park is full, there are other locations around Poole to park instead. We suggest planning for this in advance, using a third-party car parking website like en.parkopedia.co.uk
  • Please let us know if you have accessibility needs (for example, if you’re a Blue Badge holder) by emailing [email protected] and we will do our best to help.

What to expect on the day

  • Your lifeboat will be outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather. Remember to bring sunscreen, or waterproofs and an umbrella.
  • You will be met in Reception by our friendly event volunteers who will check you in and show you to the Waterfront Suite, where refreshments will be served.
  • Each time slot is approximately 45 minutes long and there will be around 40-50 people in your group.
  • After welcoming you to RNLI College, our volunteers will escort your group to the All-weather Lifeboat Centre, where you’ll get to spend 15 minutes with your Shannon class lifeboat and have a chance to see your loved one’s name up close.
  • There will be printed banners of the lifeboat’s decal, which you can use to find your loved one’s name.
  • Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. Please ensure you follow all health and safety advice given to you on the day of the event to help ensure the experience is safe and enjoyable for everyone.
  • You are welcome to take photos and videos throughout your visit. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed by the RNLI during your visit, please let us know upon arrival.
  • At the RNLI College we have Riggers Restaurant which we strongly recommend pre-booking a table before your visit to avoid disappointment on the day. The RNLI College also offers accommodation if you wish.
  • We also have Poole Lifeboat Station located a short 10 minute walk from the RNLI College who will be open at the weekend to welcome visitors.

We can’t wait to welcome you.
