Brighton launches to a yacht with a spinnaker sheet around its propeller

At 20.23hrs on 26th June, Birghton RNLI launched to a yacht that was on passage from the Isle of Wight to Brighton that accidently wrapped the spinnaker sheet around its propeller. The lifeboat met the casualty a mile off the Marina, cut away some rope that could have endangered the Lifeboat, then towed her into the safety of Brighton Marina. Weather Moderate sea Force 4/5 sea with an ebbing tide.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
