What is Mayday?

Mayday is our yellow-themed annual fundraiser, which runs from 1-31 May. It’s a celebration of our volunteer lifeboat crews, who are on call 24 hours a day, every day, to save lives at sea.

This year, we want to raise £750,000* to fund the vital kit that will keep them safe, whatever the weather throws at them. Will you help us by raising money this Mayday?

*Any funds raised over our £750,000 target will go towards funding our lifesaving work around the UK and Ireland.

Get your yellow on

This Mayday, we’re getting our yellow on – like our crews do every day to save lives. There are loads of ways to raise money, from organising a yellow-themed dress-down day to whipping up some lemon tarts for a bake sale.

No time to spare?

If fundraising isn’t for you, please help keep our crews safe by donating online. Just £25 could buy a pair of gloves to keep our crews’ hands warm and dry on long, cold, rain-soaked shouts.

Why kit matters

When our brave volunteer crews answer the call for help, they don’t know what they’ll be facing. Huge waves, storms, darkness. They need to be prepared for anything. Having the right kit can mean the difference between life and death – for them and the people they rescue.
