Every time RNLI volunteers launch to the rescue, it's an outstanding act of selflessness and kindness.

Throughout our 200-year history, some lifesaving calls have been singled out for special recognition – for the courage and skill shown by the crew, in the most difficult of conditions.

This is one of those rescues, and it led to Coxswain Patch Harvey being awarded a Silver Medal for Gallantry in 2024. Watch the Penlee crew tell the story of how they tackled a dark and stormy night to save eight lives:

We hope you enjoyed this short film. If you did, we’d love it if you could vote for us in the Smiley Charity Film Awards to give Patch and his crew some much-deserved recognition for their courage and dedication.
