What happens when an RNLI lifeboat has engine trouble? And who fixes it? Find out with this behind-the-scenes video.  

Engines can go wrong – that’s why it’s important to give our lifesavers the training they need to get their lifeboat running again, to get themselves – and those they rescue – home safely. You may have even seen the crew at Rhyl repairing their lifeboat on their way to a casualty on a recent episode of Saving Lives at Sea!

We caught up with Scott, an RNLI machinery trainer, to learn more about the fascinating world of lifeboat engines and repairs. Here’s in-depth look at the Severn, Shannon and D class engines:
