Text to Donate Terms and Conditions

One-off Donation

  1. These terms apply to all donations made by text message to the RNLI. Please ensure you have read these terms carefully, understand them and accept them. If you have any queries which are not answered within these terms then please call our Supporter Care Team on 0300 300 9990 (Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 GMT) or email info@rnli.org.uk.
  2. The text to donate service is provided by RSM 2000 Limited, company number 03703548 of C/O Keens Shay Keens, Exchange Building, 2nd Floor 16 Cuthberts Street, Bedford, MK40 3JG and will only be used by them for processing your donation and sending and receiving all text messages relating to your donation. RSM 2000 Limited has a relationship with network providers to administer your donation through your pay monthly or pay as you go account. For further details please see RSM 2000 Limited’s website or call them on 0330 660 0425. Please note that neither RSM 2000 Limited nor your network provider will provide the RNLI with your personal information. You will not receive any communications from the RNLI other than the text messages explained in these terms which will be sent by RSM 2000 on the RNLI’s behalf.
  3. You can make a one-off donation to the RNLI as follows:
    a. Text RNLI to 70300, 70500 or 70700 to donate £5; or
    b. Text RNLI10 to 70700 to donate £10
  4. You must get the bill payer’s permission before sending a text message. If you are under 18 years old, you must also have your parent or guardian’s permission to make a text donation to the RNLI.
  5. 100% of your donation will go to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), a charity registered in England and Wales (209603), Scotland (SC037736), the Republic of Ireland (20003326), the Bailiwick of Jersey (14), the Isle of Man and the Bailiwick of Guernsey and Alderney.
  6. In addition to your donation you may incur your standard network message charge. Please refer to your network provider’s terms and conditions for details of their charges. Donations by text may only be made from a mobile phone registered on a UK network and cannot be made if your UK mobile is outside the UK.
  7. Please ensure your text message is spelt correctly and that it is sent to the correct number. If you do not spell your text message correctly and/or send it to the wrong number then your network provider may not process your donation to the RNLI but you may still be charged your standard network message charge for the message you have sent. If this happens please contact our text to donate service providers RSM 2000 Limited using the contact details provided in clause 2 of these terms.
  8. Upon successfully sending a text to donate to the RNLI in accordance with clause 3 you will be sent a free thank you text message to confirm that your donation has been processed. If you text RNLI10 to donate £10 to the RNLI then your donation will be processed as two £5 donations and you will receive two free thank you text messages to confirm that your donation has been processed.
  9. Your donation will be taken from your mobile phone account or pre-pay balance and, within 8 weeks of receipt, paid to the RNLI by your network provider.
  10. If you have a pay monthly mobile account then your donation will appear on your mobile bill unless otherwise specified in your network provider’s terms and conditions.
  11. If you have a pay as you go mobile account then please ensure you have enough funds in your mobile account to process your donation. If there are insufficient funds available to process your donation then your donation will not be successfully processed. You will not receive any communication to confirm this action. 
  12. There is a limit of a maximum of £30 donation (i.e. you can make multiple one-off donations by text message up to this amount) that can be made to the RNLI per mobile phone number in any 30 day period. If you attempt to donate more than this amount to the RNLI using the same mobile number (either in one-off donations and/or by setting up a text to donate subscription) then you may incur charges in accordance with clause 6 and you may receive another thank you text message in accordance with clause 8 but no further donations will be collected from that mobile account during that 30 day period.
  13. The RNLI cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text message being lost or not properly received or actioned.
  14. All donations made to the RNLI, including donations via text messages and text subscriptions, are non-refundable.

  16. The RNLI reserves the right to change these terms at any time. Any changes will be published on RNLI.org/TextTerms from time to time.
  17. If any of these terms shall be deemed unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from these terms and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
  18. These terms are governed by English Law and participants submit to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.

Monthly Donation Subscription

  1. These terms apply to all subscriptions to donate by text message to the RNLI. Please ensure you have read these terms carefully, understand them and accept them.   2. The text to donate service is provided by RSM 2000 Limited, company number 03703548 of C/O Keens Shay Keens, Exchange Building, 2nd Floor 16 Cuthberts Street, Bedford, MK40 3JG and will only be used by them for processing your donation and sending and receiving all text messages relating to your text to donate subscription. RSM 2000 Limited has a relationship with network providers to set up, administer and manage your text to donate subscription through your pay monthly or pay as you go account. For further details please see RSM 2000 Limited’s website or call them on 0330 660 0425. Please note that neither RSM 2000 Limited nor your network provider will provide the RNLI with your personal information. You will not receive any communications from the RNLI other than the text messages explained in these terms which will be sent by RSM 2000 on the RNLI’s behalf.
  3. You can set up a subscription to donate £3 per month (every 30 days) to the RNLI by texting CREW to 70300. Your subscription will be set up through the mobile account of the number from which the subscription text message was sent.
  4. You must get the bill payer’s permission before sending a text message. If you are under 18 years old, you must also have your parent or guardian’s permission to setting up a text to donate subscription to the RNLI.
  5. For each donation you make, 100% of your donation will go to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), a charity registered in England and Wales (209603), Scotland (SC037736), the Republic of Ireland (20003326), the Bailiwick of Jersey (14), the Isle of Man and the Bailiwick of Guernsey and Alderney.
  6. In addition to your donations, each text message you send may incur your standard network message charge. Please refer to your network provider’s terms and conditions for details of their charges. Subscriptions may only be set up from a mobile phone registered on a UK network and changes to your subscription cannot be made if your UK mobile is outside the UK at the time of requesting a change.
  7. If you send a text message to set up a subscription from a non-UK mobile then you may incur charges from your network provider but no subscription will be activated on your account. If you send a text message to change your subscription from a UK mobile whilst outside the UK then you may incur charges from your network provider but no change will be made to your subscription.
  8. You can cancel your text to donate subscription at any time by texting STOP to 70300.
  9. Please ensure your text message is spelt correctly, using the correct word for the action you wish to take, and that it is sent to the correct number. Successful text messages will receive a reply to confirm that your request has been processed. If you do not spell your text message correctly and/or send it to the wrong number then your network provider may not process your donation to the RNLI or your required change to your subscription but you may still be charged your standard network message charge for the message you have sent. If this happens please contact our text to donate service providers RSM 2000 Limited using the contact details provided in clause 2 of these terms.
  10. Upon successfully subscribing to donate £3 per month (every 30 days) to the RNLI you will be sent a free thank you text message to confirm that your subscription has been activated. Your first donation of £3 will be collected within 10 minutes of this confirmation message being sent to you and you will be sent a free text message to confirm that your donation has successfully been processed.
  11. Your donations are taken from your mobile phone account or pre-pay balance and, within 8 weeks of receipt, paid to the RNLI by your network provider.
  12. If you have a pay monthly mobile account then your donations will appear on your mobile bill unless otherwise specified in your network provider’s terms and conditions.
  13. If you have a pay as you go mobile account then please ensure you have enough funds in your mobile account to process your subscription donations and any text charges relating to your subscription. If, whether on initial setup of your subscription or at any time afterwards, there are insufficient funds available to process your subscription donation then your donation will be suspended for 30 days. You will not receive any communication to confirm this action. If your mobile account does not have sufficient funds to process your subscription donation for three months (three x 30 days) in a row then your subscription will be cancelled automatically. You will not receive any communication to confirm this action.
  14. If you change mobile number and/or network provider during your text to donate subscription then your subscription will be cancelled automatically. You will not receive any communication to confirm this action. If you would like to re-subscribe to donate £3 per month to the RNLI with your new mobile number or network provider then please follow the steps in clause 3 to set up a new subscription.
  15. Approximately 30 days after you set up your subscription, and approximately each 30 days thereafter, you will be sent a free text message to remind you about your subscription. The message will provide the following options in respect of your subscription:
    a. Text STOP to 70300 to cancel your subscription entirely; or
    b. Text SKIP to 70300 to miss the upcoming donation for 30 days.
    Alternatively, if you do nothing, your next £3 donation will be processed approximately 24 hours after the reminder text message is sent to you and you will be sent a text message to confirm that your donation has successfully been processed.
  16. If you wish to cancel or skip your donation then you must text STOP or SKIP in less than 24 hours of receiving your reminder message in order to process your request before your next £3 donation is made. If you text STOP or SKIP to 70300 after this time then your £3 donation may be made before your request is processed.
  17. Texting SKIP in accordance with clause 15 will postpone your donation from being processed for 30 days. There is no limit to how many times you may postpone your subscription.
  18. If you text STOP or SKIP in accordance with clauses 8 or 15 then, upon receipt of your message, your subscription will be processed in accordance with your instructions and a free confirmation text message will be sent to you to confirm this action has been completed. Your required action will be deemed to have been completed when a confirmation text message is sent to you.
  19. There is a limit of one active subscription per mobile phone number. If you have already subscribed to donate by text to the RNLI and, whilst your subscription is still active, text CREW to 70300 using the same mobile number then you may incur charges in accordance with clause 6 and you may receive another thank you text message in accordance with clause 10 but no additional subscriptions will be set up for that mobile account number and no further donations will be collected from that mobile account.
  20. There is a limit of a maximum of £30 donation that can be made to the RNLI per mobile phone number in any 30 day period. If you attempt to donate more than this amount to the RNLI using the same mobile number (either in one-off donations and/or by setting up a text to donate subscription) then you may incur charges in accordance with clause 6 and you may receive another thank you text message in accordance with clause 9 but no further one-off donations will be collected from that mobile account and your subscription donation will be suspended for 30 days. If you have donated £30 by one-off text to donate messages then attempt to set up a subscription then your subscription will not be processed. Please wait for 30 days then set up your subscription in accordance with clause 2.
  21. The RNLI cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text message being lost or not properly received or actioned.
  22. All donations made to the RNLI, including donations via text messages and text subscriptions, are non-refundable.
  23. If you have texted STOP to cancel your text to donate subscription and would like to reinstate it then please repeat the steps in clause 3 to create a new subscription. This may result in more than one £3 donation being made in a 30 day period depending on when you texted STOP and when you texted CREW. Please contact our text to donate service providers RSM 2000 Limited using the contact details provided in clause 2 of these terms if you have any queries about this process.
