Clogher Head Lifeboat Station

For over 100 years a lifeboat station has provided search and rescue cover for the scenic coastal area around Clogher Head. The station currently operates an all-weather Mersey class lifeboat. Help fund a new Shannon class lifeboat by donating to the Clogher Head lifeboat appeal.

Clogherhead and Skerries RNLI carry out joint rescue of a fishing vessel
At approximately 1:00:pm Thursday February 1st  Clogherhead and Skerries Lifeboats were launched following a request for assistance from a 10m fishing vessel located 4.5 miles NE of Skerries. The casualty vessel had lost engine power while on passage from Kilmore Quay to the Shetland Islands. Skerries lifeboat was first on the scene and took the casualty in tow. Winds were gusting up to 30knots and seas were 3m high.  Due to the weather conditions the tow line was transferred to the larger Clogherhead Lifeboat and the rescue continued without incident.  The casualty was successfully towed into Skerries Harbour and tied up at 2
