Coast to Cobbles: City of Manchester Lifeboat Saturday
Commemorating the birth of fundraising by street collection on Lifeboat Saturday!
A street collection organised by City of Manchester Fundraising Branch, in collaboration with the Coast to Cobbles event.
On the first Lifeboat Saturday on 10 October 1891, bands, floats, and lifeboats paraded through the streets of Manchester, followed by volunteers with buckets and purses on poles.
Come along and join in alongside RNLI volunteers, and the Air Cadets, for a collection commemorating the history of the RNLI.
About Coast To Cobbles
Coast To Cobbles is a series of events that bring volunteers and supporters together to celebrate the courage and kindness that has powered our lifesaving in North West England since 1824.
The main five events, which include this one at Salford Quays Piazza, are taking place between 28 September and 12 October 2024 along the route of our special Coast To Cobbles lifeboat and its volunteer crew. They are travelling by sea, river and canal - from Silloth in Cumbria to Salford Quays in Greater Manchester - filling a time capsule with precious RNLI memories along the way.
