Shoreham Harbour RNLI December Dip
Take part in Shoreham Lifeboat Station's ‘December Dip’ this year to raise vital funds for its lifesaving work
Shoreham RNLI Lifeboat Station will hold a 'December Dip’ this year to raise vital funds for the lifesaving work of its volunteer crew.
The event, which will take place on Sunday 15th December, is a regular festive event for the local community. Participants will be encouraged to raise money for their local lifeboat station by braving a quick sea dip in waters that average a bracing 11°C in December.
Hosted at Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Station, the event will start from 10am, with the first participants set to take the plunge from 10.30am.
Each participant can enter for £6 and they will be encouraged to raise sponsorship from friends and family – registered participants will automatically receive a personal Just Giving page.
Fancy dress is optional but encouraged!
After their dip, participants will receive a hot drink.
For those not participating in the dip, there will be Christmas music to enjoy as well, the RNLI shop will be open and hot drinks and mince pies will be available.
Full safety measures will be in place which include lifeguards, as well as Safety Boats. There will also be an ambulance on site.
This event is open to both adults and children over the age of 12. Younger children are welcome to attend but cannot take part in the dip. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
All participants are asked to arrive for sign in at the lifeboat station between 10.00 and 10.30am where they will be given a wristband. This wristband must be worn at all times and scanned before and after the dip.
Parking is available in the free public car park next to the lifeboat station. The station is approximately a 15-minute walk from Southwick train station and 25 minute walk from Shoreham by Sea train station.
