Branch information
The Croydon Branch are a small group of volunteers who aim to raise funds for the RNLI from the Croydon area, including Addiscombe, Shirley, New Addington and Thornton Heath.
People often ask us why we do what we do when we are so far from the sea. Our answer is that we are just a short train journey from the busiest Lifeboat station in the country, at Waterloo Bridge on the River Thames, with more than 500 launches in 2016. There are two other Lifeboat stations on this busy river, at Chiswick and Teddington and the funds from the Croydon fundraising branch help raise awareness of and supports this vital service in London as well as Lifeboat stations throughout the UK and Ireland.
The branch take part in a variety of fundraising, with tram and railway stations collections, collections at supermarkets as well as the sale of merchandise at various church and local event markets, quiz nights and an annual 10-pin bowling event.
We always need people who are willing to help us at various collections and events in the local area throughout the year. We would also welcome you to serve on our committee, helping shape future fundraising activities, and would love to see younger persons who could spare a few hours to help us help others to save lives at sea and the River Thames.
Please contact the Chairman for opportunities at this branch or check our volunteering vacancies.
