Branch information
Tower is one of four lifeboat stations on the Thames which became operational on 2 January 2002, providing a round-the-clock rapid response service for the capital. Tower and the lifeboat stations at Chiswick, Teddington and Gravesend are manned continuously to provide an immediate response.
Since opening in 2002, Tower Lifeboat Station has launched its lifeboats 9,775 times and saved 373 lives (as at 1 January 2023). It is consistently the RNLI’s busiest lifeboat station, operating 24/7 every day of the year.
The City of London Committee exists to support the vital work of the crews at Tower Lifeboat Station by raising funds and awareness.
Alongside participation in RNLI events such as London Lifeboat day in May and the recent Tower Stair Run, the Committee also organises its own events and initiatives, including our popular annual City quiz and City wine tasting event.
Please note that donating via this site will go towards general RNLI running costs and should you wish to donate to Tower Lifeboat Station directly then please do contact the Committee for details on how to do this.
We are always looking for new volunteers and supporters. If you would like to join us, or support our fundraising activities on a more ad hoc basis, please get in touch.
We are currently particularly interested in recruiting volunteers with:
- expertise in social media
- expertise in events (both concepts and planning)
- expertise in marketing and selling tickets to events
