RNLI lifeboats launched 8,321 times in 2012. Our lifeguards aided 16,414 people on more than 180 of the UK and Channel Islands' busiest beaches.

Port Isaac

Experience and compassion combined when three volunteers faced the toughest test to rescue two men between Port Isaac and Tintagel on Easter Sunday, 8 April 2012.

Two days before Christmas, a shrill scream for help chilled Paul Eastment and his team as they arrived to rescue a terrified woman clinging to a tree in a flooded river.

Anstruther

When experienced mariner Paul Harrison and his son Sean left North Shields on 31 July 2012 in ideal conditions aboard the 16m former lifeboat Princess, they had no idea this would be ‘the old rescuer’s’ last journey.
