Why? well next to the Park is the Stranraer Inshore Lifeboat Station, the RNLI relies totally on volunteers, fundraising and donations from the public to provide this vital life saving service

​The RNLI is the Official Charity Partner for the highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast trail-running marathon.

 

Beauty and the Beast is a multi-lap event that can be entered individually or in relay teams of up to six people. The event combines stunning parkland scenery and breathtaking views with more than 1,500m worth of gruelling ascents and descents. Each lap will be just under 4.4 miles in length, culminating in the Beast – a monstrously tough final climb.

Helly Hansen is a keen supporter of the RNLI, and has joined forces with the charity to implement a number of incentives for participants and spectators:

Everyone who finishes the race will receive an event T-shirt. At registration, you will also be asked if you wish to wear it during the race, and Helly Hansen will donate £2.50 to the RNLI if you do. Additionally, the first 50 people to bring an old T-shirt or base layer in will also get a new Helly Hansen base layer!

The company will also donate 5% of all Helly Hansen sales made through the Beauty and the Beast’s Official Retail Partner, Cotswold Outdoor, either from its retail stand on the day of the event.

The RNLI will have a stand at the event village, including a Get Your Kit On competition to see who can get into RNLI crew kit the fastest. The event village allows spectators, competitors and their families to be entertained without straying from the action. Not only will all runners pass through the event village twice on each lap, onsite catering and entertainment from a resident DJ will be available all day.

Each year we see some 2,500 runners participating. The Marathon course follows a beautiful scenic route through Henley, over the famous bridge, and along the Thames valley. It then returns to cross the river and takes the runners up the hill at Fawley before bringing them home to the Henley Rugby Club.

The first ever GSi Bournemouth Marathon Festival takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October 2013, and by taking part you will be supporting our volunteer Lifeboat Crews and Lifeguards. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things to save lives at sea. Our headquarters are just a stone's throw from the Bournemouth Marathon Festival’s proposed routes – and so is Poole Lifeboat Station, home to one of our busiest lifeboat crews. As you run along the seven miles of golden sands in Poole and Bournemouth, you'll see our volunteers cheering you on from our lifeguard stations.

Would you like to help Save Lives at Sea ?  By registering for a charity place with the RNLI for the Bupa 10,000 2013, you will be supporting Team RNLI.

The BUPA London 10,000 will take place at 10.00am on Monday May 27th 2013. It starts and finishes in St James’s Park and uses Green Park as its assembly area.

The Race starts (and finishes) in The Mall and follows a clockwise route around the City of Westminster and the City of London. Runners pass many of London’s famous sights including, Admiralty Arch, Nelson’s Column, St Paul’s Cathedral,  Mansion House, Bank of England, Leadenhall Market, The Monument, Millennium Bridge, Tate Gallery, Cleopatra’s Needle, London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. It is also hoped that Buckingham Palace will act as the backdrop for both the start and finish. (All Royal Parks information is subject to approval).

 The Castle 2 Castle Swim is a one mile open water sea swim accross the mouth of the River Fal. The swim starts at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth and finishes at St Mawes Castle on the Roseland Peninsula.

Thanks to all the participants of this event over the past five years we have been able to raise a tremendous amount of money for the RNLI, which has gone directly to helping save lives at sea by supporting RNLI lifeguards on our beaches around the South West coastline. The swim is an absolutely fantastic event largely run by volunteers, and without them it would simply not be possible.

We are delighted to now be able to launch the 2013 swim and hope to see as many people as possible come forward to take part. The event promises to be great fun with a fantastic atmosphere so do come along and get involved.

The event has a maximum limit of 400 swimmers and is open to anyone over the age of 14. Please note that due to the nature of this event participants should be intermediate or experienced open water swimmers that have previously swam at least one mile in open water
