Meet fellow volunteers
Perhaps you're a lifeboat crew member, an Education volunteer, a fundraising branch member or a shop volunteer? Or maybe you're not an RNLI volunteer yet but have been thinking about giving your time? We'd like to welcome you to come and have a chat to RNLI volunteers.
We have set up a special group on Facebook for RNLI volunteers to chat, ask questions and share ideas with one another and the Volunteering Team.
Only members of the RNLI's Facebook Volunteers group can see the discussions and get involved. We'd like to think of the group as a virtual lifeboat station! Somewhere you can meet fellow volunteers, talk and share ideas, stories and ask questions about the RNLI and volunteering.
You will need to have a Facebook account to sign up to the RNLI Volunteers group – don't worry: you can keep this entirely private if you want to – but once you have a Facebook account set up you can get going with posting messages and talking to like-minded volunteers. If you don’t have a Facebook account, follow the simple steps below. You will need a valid email address.
One of the Volunteering Team will stop by at least once a day, Monday to Friday, to answer any questions we can help with, and to update you on the latest RNLI volunteering news.
Additionally the RNLI has pages on Twitter, Flickr and YouTube where you can talk and share ideas.
Join the RNLI Volunteers' Facebook group.
How to set up a Facebook account
Set up your Facebook profile, following the instructions given –
this quick video will show you how.
You can fill in as much or as little information about yourself as you like on your own personal Facebook profile. Facebook also has an extensive range of privacy settings – you can make your profile public for all the world to see, completely private for only you to see, or somewhere in between.
Once you've logged in to Facebook, simply visit the group and select the 'Ask to join group' button (in the top right corner of the page). An administrator will respond to your request the next working day. You will then be able to chat to fellow RNLI volunteers.
