Programme:
Vaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony
Britten: Four Sea Interludes
Paul Carr: Beacon of Hope (world première)
Soprano Sophie Bevan
Baritone Gareth Brynmor John
Salomon Orchestra
Conductor Gavin Carr
Featuring the massed forces of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Bath Minerva Choir, the huge Salomon Orchestra and notable soloists Sophie Bevan and Gareth Brynmor John – under the baton of the ever-charismatic Gavin Carr – we present a programme celebrating the sea in all its varied forms, and climaxing with Vaughan Williams’s epic and magnificent Sea Symphony.
Also featured are Benjamin Britten's Four Sea Interludes and the world premiere of a choral setting of the Lifeboat Prayer, composed by Classic FM favourite Paul Carr. Star soprano Sophie Bevan and up-and-coming baritone Gareth Brynmor John give their voices for free in aid of the RNLI's lifesavers.
Conductor Gavin Carr says: 'People should come to the show because they’re going to have a rollicking good evening. It’s music that will thrill even if you’re not familiar with classical music. The Sea Symphony will thrill anyone from a 5-year-old to a 105-year-old. But they should also come to show support for the RNLI, which does such a crucial and difficult job, to such an amazing level of skill and dedication. And to be part of a community that supports the RNLI and supports live music – two great things that are worth buying into.'
